Medium ruby colour accompanies herbal, stemmy notes and a touch of volatility. The wine is dry, with medium-soft tannins, red fruit, a dash of soya, enough acidity and a dry finish. Pinot Noir comes from a southeast-facing vineyard in West Kelowna overlooking Okanagan Lake. Volcanic rock, clay, loam and iron-rich soils are found at the site.

About Rust Wine Co.
Rust Wine Co. is based at South Rock Vineyard on the southern edge of the Golden Mile Bench near Oliver. It makes single-vineyard wines from five sites across the Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Falls, the wider Okanagan Valley and the Similkameen Valley.
South Rock was purchased from the Crown in 1963 and planted to grapes in 1968, with Gewürztraminer arriving in the early 1970s. The vineyard now grows Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel. The changing labels feature photographs of weathered metal submitted from British Columbia and beyond.
