Scout Vineyard NV Syrah-Riesling Co-Ferment

Whole clusters of Syrah were submerged in freshly pressed Riesling juice and sealed for light carbonic maceration. Fermentation took place in qvevri, with nothing added or removed. Dried salmonberry, cherry bubblegum, rhubarb, blackberry and a penny-like note create a fragrant profile with delicately integrated tannins. The fruit comes from regeneratively farmed sandy soils in the Similkameen Valley.

About Scout Vineyard
Aaron and Carly Godard and Murray and Maggie Fonteyne founded Scout Vineyard in 2018 as a two-family wine farm in the Similkameen Valley. They named it for Murray and Maggie’s daughter. The farm has granitic soils, low rainfall, alpine winds and large day-to-night temperature shifts.
Deep-rooted cover crops are part of its regenerative farming, aimed at supporting soil life and retaining water. The cellar uses Georgian qvevri vessels for both skin-contact and directly pressed wines. Sulphur additions are occasional and limited.
