Lornano 2021 Chianti Classico

Tangerine peel and citrus blossom accompany cherry, strawberry, graphite, pencil shavings and pepper. Cherry returns on the palate with peppery earthiness, warming acidity and firm, taut tannins. The wine is made from Sangiovese. Temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel with fifteen to eighteen days on skins, followed by malolactic fermentation in French oak and twelve months of oak maturation.

About Fattoria Lornano
The Pozzoli family has owned Fattoria Lornano continuously since 1904, with fourth-generation Nicolò and Galileo now guiding the estate. Its vineyards lie between Castellina in Chianti and Monteriggioni, in the south-western hills of Chianti Classico, on a property with a fifteenth-century cellar. Lornano was among the thirty-three growers who founded the original Chianti Classico consortium in 1924.
The estate has about fifty-one hectares of vines, roughly eighty percent planted to Sangiovese. Estate-grown grapes are picked largely by hand and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. The wines mature in an underground cellar, with French oak chosen to suit each wine. The estate avoids herbicides, chemical fertilizers and irrigation in its vineyards.
