Greywacke 2014 Pinot Noir

$72.99

Black Doris plum, raspberry, black cherry and strawberry conserve lead a fragrant, generous Pinot Noir. Cinnamon and clove add savoury spice around a dense, lively palate. Fruit from Marlborough’s Southern Valleys was hand-harvested, chilled and sorted, with partial whole-bunch fermentation before sixteen months in French oak. The finish is long and energetic, balancing ripe fruit with fine structure.

About Greywacke
Kevin and Kimberley Judd founded Greywacke in Marlborough in 2009; its small team is based in the Omaka Valley. Kevin had previously directed Cloudy Bay’s first twenty-five vintages. The name refers to the grey river stone spread through New Zealand and through many of Marlborough’s alluvial vineyard soils. Fruit comes from mature vineyards in the central Wairau Plains and Southern Valleys. Crops are kept low, and wild-yeast fermentation is used extensively in the cellar. Kevin’s own vineyard photographs appear on the labels.
