Cherries and savoury red liquorice meet black plum, spice and tobacco. The palate is rich and warm, with a long, intense finish. The blend is eighty percent Sangiovese and twenty percent Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit comes from a west- and southwest-facing site with clay and schist over limestone. The estate covers 104 hectares and belongs to the Contini Bonacossi family.

About Capezzana
An 804 rental contract records wine and olive oil at Capezzana, in Tuscany’s Carmignano hills. The Contini Bonacossi family bought the estate in 1926, and its fourth and fifth generations now share its direction. Alessandro and Vittoria Contini Bonacossi also assembled a major art collection; a group of 144 works passed to the Italian state in 1969 and is displayed at the Uffizi.
Organic vineyard work is paired with indigenous yeasts in the cellar. Its Carmignano wines bring Sangiovese together with Cabernet, following the area’s centuries-old blending tradition.
