Meinklang 2019 Blaufränkisch

Blueberry, blackcurrant, leather and tobacco meet juicy fruit, a lightly taut texture and a gently bitter edge. Violets and plums add floral and dark-fruit detail. Blaufränkisch spends about nine days on the skins with manual punch-downs, then ages on fine lees in large used barrels and stainless steel. The dry red is biodynamically farmed in Burgenland and carries 12 percent alcohol.

About Meinklang
Meinklang is the Michlits family's mixed farm in Pamhagen, Burgenland, close to Lake Neusiedl and the Hungarian border. After the border reopened, Anneliese and Werner Michlits senior expanded their forty-hectare smallholding so their three sons could work in agriculture. Their sons share the work: Werner focuses on wine, Hannes on field crops, and Lukas on plants and animals.
The Demeter-certified farm combines vineyards, pasture, grain and livestock, using its own manure to fertilize the soil. The cellar relies on spontaneous fermentation, with wine moved by gravity and matured in wood, stainless steel or large concrete eggs.
