Wesbert Winery
AboutWesbert Winery
The South African Joubert family founded Wesbert Winery on the Naramata Bench in 2019, after Wessel Joubert and Pieter Coetzer bought a shuttered winery. They restored the neglected home vineyard, reopened three guest suites that year and welcomed visitors back to the wine shop in 2020.
Wesbert farms two Naramata Bench vineyards with red and white varieties, including Pinotage. The winemaking approach favours minimal intervention, with the aim of showing the growing season and the character of the fruit. Visitors can explore the wines in the tasting room or stay in the guest suites, with a terrace pizzeria on site.
Wesbert Winery 2022 Gewürztraminer
Canadian White
This white comes from British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. The winery sits on the Naramata Bench outside Penticton and works with two vineyards. Its minimal-intervention approach is intended to let fruit and each growing season speak for themselves. The property grows several varieties, including Gewürztraminer, and aims for balanced, full-flavoured wines. The site is near the Kettle Valley Rail Trail.
Wesbert Winery 2022 Pinot Gris
Canadian White
Delicate notes of green apple and Bartlett pear appear together with subtle aromas of lemon and lime. Bright acidity accompanies a lingering pear finish. Juicy, spirited fruit is plentiful, and a stony undertone adds fine complexity to an elastic, lengthened palate. The Pinot Gris comes from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The wine is light and refreshing.
Wesbert 2021 Merlot
Canadian Red
Raspberry, cassis and spice form a compact, pure-fruited profile. Bright acidity keeps the wine juicy and fresh through the finish. Medium body, smooth texture and balance give it an easygoing character, while plum, cherry, blackberry, herbs and cedar add further detail. It is ready to enjoy and works naturally with sausage pizza, beef tacos or a casual barbecue.
Wesbert Winery 2025 Rosé
Canadian Rosé
Bright strawberry, blackberry and redcurrant define this dry rosé. Fresh, mid-level acidity accompanies a lively palate, and the finish is easy and refreshing. The producer works with two vineyards on the Naramata Bench and follows a minimal-intervention approach intended to let the character of each growing season and the local terroir show clearly in the finished wines.
Wesbert 2020 Wise Guy Red Blend
Canadian Red
Ripe cherry and dried fig open a polished red, with dark chocolate, oak smoke and leather adding quiet savoury depth. The palate is smooth and composed, its generous fruit shaped by measured structure rather than weight. Subtle warmth carries the finish, making it a natural match for grilled lamb, mushroom risotto or mature cheese.
Wesbert 2021 Syrah
Canadian Red
Rich plum, blackberry and black cherry give this medium-bodied Syrah a generous dark-fruited core. Baking spice adds warmth without overwhelming the fruit, while subtle caramel and leather shape the finish. Estate-grown and smooth, it is rounded and approachable, with enough savoury detail to stay composed alongside roast beef, lamb or grilled mushrooms.
Wesbert 2019 Merlot
Canadian Red
Plum, blackberry and dark cherry lead, framed by roasted pepper, black olive and a light smoky-herbal note. The palate sits on the lighter side of medium-bodied, with juicy acidity and fine tannins keeping the ripe fruit balanced. Savoury detail lingers through a clean, well-shaped finish. Serve with grilled lamb, mushrooms or charred vegetables.
