AboutUnion Sacré

French-born winemaker Xavier Arnaudin and designer Philip Muzzy turned their Central Coast friendship into Union Sacré, making their first vintage in 2014. Arnaudin’s background includes cooking and sommelier training, followed by work at Arcadian and Sans Liege; the friends opened their Paso Robles cellar in 2018.

Alsace is a source of inspiration for their dry California wines, particularly Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Sylvaner. They also work with Central Coast Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc.

Pear flesh, lime curd, lychee, white melon and citrus appear in a dry white wine with a grippy texture. White flowers, Granny Smith apple and Asian pear are also present. The fruit is pressed directly using a four-hour light-pressure cycle. Fermentation takes place on fine lees for three weeks at 55°F, followed by ageing in 500-litre neutral wood puncheons. The wine is bottled unfiltered.

Union Sacré 2021 Cabernet Franc Paso Robles

American Red
$63.99
Fresh pepper opens with blueberry, plum and violet, followed by a quiet earthy note. The fruit remains clear and unforced, while floral lift and peppery detail bring definition through the centre. Savoury tones settle beneath the berries, carrying the wine into a clean, measured and gently persistent finish.
