Umani Ronchi began in 1957 at Cupramontana, in the Verdicchio-growing hills of the Marche. The Bianchi-Bernetti family took over in 1968, with Massimo and Michele Bernetti continuing to lead the winery.
Its vineyards extend from the Verdicchio hills to Conero and Abruzzo, with a separate cellar for each area. Verdicchio is central to the white wines, while Montepulciano and the aromatic Lacrima are important to the reds. The family has converted its vineyards to certified organic farming.

Pepper, pine, anise and pitch accompany ample dusky violet and plum. The profile runs across a very long palate to a dried-herb finish. Lacrima di Morro is an aromatic red grape named for the tear-like droplets that appear when the berries are ready to pick. Fonte del Re refers to a former spring near Morro d’Alba.
