Trappistes Rochefort

Rochefort’s monastery dates to 1230, with brewing first recorded there in 1595. The monks returned in 1887 after their community had been displaced during the French Revolution, rebuilt the church and brewery, and began commercial beer sales in 1910.

Its Belgian ales carry the Authentic Trappist Product mark, reflecting production at the abbey under monastic oversight and support for the community and charitable work. A monk joins the weekly tasting before beer is released. Completed in 2020, the new brewhouse uses less water and energy and includes solar power.
