AboutTornatore

The Tornatore family’s farming history on Etna dates to 1865, with vineyards now centred around Castiglione di Sicilia on the volcano’s northern slope. Giuseppe Tornatore built a palmento, a traditional winery, at Piano Fiera in 1910. Terraced vineyards, volcanic soils and marked shifts between day and night temperatures shape the growing conditions.

In its core Etna range, the red combines Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, while the white is made from Carricante. Hand-harvested fruit is selected for these wines, and concrete, steel or large oak vessels are used according to the wine.

Tornatore 2023 Etna Bianco

Italian White
$46.99
Carricante from Etna's northern slope gives this white a bright, mineral profile, with green apple, grapefruit, white peach and aromatic herbs. The palate is dry and lively, balancing juicy acidity with a saline finish and gentle lees texture. Serve chilled with shellfish, grilled fish, citrus-dressed vegetables or fresh cheeses.

Tornatore 2021 Etna Rosso

Italian Red
$48.99
Pale ruby in the glass, this Etna Rosso layers sour cherry and small red berries with herbs, spice and a distinctly savoury mineral edge. Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio bring freshness and fine tannins, while time in large oak rounds the palate without obscuring the fruit. Serve with roast poultry, pork, mushrooms or tomato-based pasta.
