AboutSpringbank Distillery
Springbank was founded in Campbeltown in 1828, on the site of Archibald Mitchell’s illicit still. The Mitchell family retains a place on the board, although ownership passed to three trusts after chairman Hedley Wright’s death in 2023.
Every stage of production takes place at the distillery, which still floor-malts all its barley using traditional equipment. The same buildings make three single malts: Springbank, heavily peated and double-distilled Longrow, and unpeated, triple-distilled Hazelburn. Longrow was first distilled in 1973 as a component for blended whisky; Hazelburn followed in 1997.
Longrow Rundlets & Kilderkins 11 Year Old
Coastal and robust, opening with soft smoke, pine needles and crisp green apple over treacle and malt. The palate is creamy at first, then turns assertively spicy, bringing cooked fruit, dried peel and custard apple through a steady layer of peat. Pepper builds without obscuring the fruit. The finish is warming and persistent, with black pepper, molasses, allspice and lingering smoke.
