Mexican-born winemaker Mauricio Ruiz Cantú came to Australia to study winegrowing and winemaking, and went on to establish Somos in South Australia. What began as a collaboration is now his solo project, based in McLaren Vale. Somos means “we are” in Spanish.
He works with grape varieties suited to warm, dry conditions, sourcing some of his fruit from organic and biodynamic vineyards. The wines are made with freshness and texture in mind.

The palate is crisp yet layered, with bright acidity running through a creamy, lees-shaped texture. A gentle savoury edge and briny minerality keep the fruit precise, carrying citrus and orchard fruit into a clean, refreshing finish.
