AboutSolvero Wines
Solvero began with a Sartor family conversation in 2012 about growing cool-climate Pinot Noir in the Okanagan. In 2014 they bought a steep, 25-acre property in Summerland’s Garnet Valley, planting seven Pinot Noir clones in 2016 and Chardonnay the following year. The winery sits below the mountainside vineyard.
At nearly 600 metres, the vineyard has glacial soils of sand, gravel, rock and loam. Farming decisions respond to each season, with forest, fruit trees, gardens and animals contributing to the estate’s biodiversity. Matt Sartor manages the vineyard and Alison Moyes makes the wines.
Solvero 2023 Rosé
Medium fluorescent pink colour accompanies bright red cherry, strawberry and watermelon. The bone-dry palate is zesty and concentrated, with a creamy texture and cranberry acidity. Pinot Noir from Garnet Valley received three hours of skin contact. The crop yielded two tons per acre. The wine comes from Summerland Bench in the Okanagan Valley, with freshness throughout and a hint of smoke in the finish.
Solvero 2020 Pinot Noir
Dark cherry and ripe raspberry open with earthy depth and a quiet green-tea note. The palate is delicate yet expressive, with fresh acidity and a silky texture carrying the red fruit cleanly. Fine savoury detail builds through an elegant finish, making it a polished match for roast duck, salmon or mushroom risotto.
