Soldera Case Basse

Gianfranco and Graziella Soldera restored the abandoned Case Basse estate southwest of Montalcino, planting Sangiovese in 1972 and 1973. The family has continued the estate’s work since Gianfranco’s death in 2019.

Its wine is made entirely from estate-grown Sangiovese, with ten hectares of vines tended by hand without herbicides. Fermentation begins with native microorganisms rather than added cultured yeast. The wines then spend long periods ageing in large Slavonian-oak casks.
