AboutSantiago family
The Santiago family makes Pelotón de la Muerte’s Espadín mezcal in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. Fourth-generation Rosalba Santiago is the family’s first female master mezcal distiller. For this mezcal, the family cooks Espadín agave in an earth oven, ferments it naturally in wooden vats and distils it slowly in small copper stills.

Mexican Tequila & Mezcal
Aromatic wood smoke opens the nose, followed by green fruit, lemon zest and a clear thread of roasted agave. The palate is smooth and lively, with kiwi, citrus and dried peppercorn balancing the mezcal's gentle sweetness. Traditional stone-pit cooking and small-scale production bring earthy depth without making the smoke heavy. A subtle mineral note keeps the finish fresh, leaving soft smoke, pepper and ripe agave behind. Particularly well suited to citrus-led mezcal cocktails or a simple neat pour.
