AboutSan Marzano
Nineteen winegrowers from San Marzano joined together in 1962 to form a cooperative in Puglia’s Primitivo country. The cooperative began bottling its wines in 1996 and introduced Sessantanni, its old-vine Primitivo, in 2000. Primitivo remains central to its work, particularly the old, low-yielding vines grown as free-standing bushes in Salento’s hot, dry, windy climate.
San Marzano 2022 Primitivo Puglia IGP
Italian Red
$21.99
Deep ruby with violet reflections, opening on ripe plum and black cherry with Mediterranean herbs and a light touch of spice. The palate is generous and smooth, balancing rich dark fruit with fresh acidity and softly rounded tannins. Savoury herbal detail carries through a warm, supple and fruit-led finish.
