AboutRippon

The Mills family has farmed Rippon on the western shore of Lake Wānaka since 1912, across four generations. Rolfe and Lois Mills returned to the family farm in 1973; Rolfe planted thirty experimental grape varieties in 1975 before establishing the first commercial vineyard block in 1982. Those vines were among Central Otago’s earliest commercial plantings.

The vineyard lies on schist soils, with Lake Wānaka helping to moderate Central Otago’s continental climate. The small, family-owned estate has used biodynamic farming practices for more than twenty years.

Rippon 2019 Mature Vine Riesling

New Zealand White
$59.99
Green apple, sliced pear and bright citrus lead with a delicate floral lift and cool wet-stone minerality. The palate is medium-bodied and nearly dry, driven by mouthwatering acidity through juicy orchard fruit and lemon peel. Clean, precise and persistent, the finish remains fresh and mineral. Pair with grilled fish, shellfish or lightly spiced vegetables.
