AboutRhys Vineyards

Rhys began with a small Pinot Noir vineyard planted by Kevin Harvey at his Woodside home in 1995. From there, he sought cool, rocky sites in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Mendocino County for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Between 2001 and 2016, the team planted seven more estate vineyards, tailoring each to its slope, elevation and geology.

Farming practices include organic cultivation and dry farming; in the cellar, small lots ferment with naturally occurring yeasts and are moved by gravity. The wines are bottled without fining or filtration.

Rhys Alesia 2018 Anderson Valley Chardonnay

American White
$89.99
Gold colour accompanies honeysuckle, white blossom and honeyed orchard fruit, together with apple and white flowers. The medium-bodied wine has finesse, tangy acidity, chalky minerality, lemon curd and crushed citrus, with a long mineral finish. Chardonnay fruit comes from Anderson Valley in California. Bosc pear, red apple, stone, honeycomb and baker's yeast add further detail.

Rhys Alesia 2018 Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains

American White
$89.99
Apple, pear and passion fruit emerge gradually from a reserved nose, joined by citrus blossom, fresh nutmeg and fine mineral detail. The palate opens with succulent fruit and a gentle touch of refined vanilla oak, then tightens into a chiseled, balanced close. Poised acidity keeps the Chardonnay precise and quietly energetic.
