Launched in 2005, Renegade Rum Company was an independent bottler of single-estate rums, developed by the team behind Murray McDavid. Wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin had founded Murray McDavid with Gordon Wright in 1994. The team selected rums from established distilleries, often giving them further maturation in wine casks before bottling without chill filtration.

The palate brings concentrated fruit without turning heavy, as pepper and resinous oak add definition around a lightly sweet centre. Darker, wine-cask richness emerges gradually. The finish is savoury and persistent, balancing stony dryness, fruit and warming spice with a restrained final sweetness.
