AboutRamón Bilbao
Ramón Bilbao registered his name as a wine brand in Haro in 1924, formalizing a family business rooted in Rioja. The winery became part of Zamora Company in 1999, the same year winemaker Rodolfo Bastida joined. It now makes wines in both Rioja and Rueda, while keeping its base in Haro. A high-altitude vineyard project launched in 2012 added a new area of exploration to its Rioja work.
Ramón Bilbao 2011 Single Vineyard Rioja
Dark fruit, spice and vanilla accompany a soft, supple profile with a long finish. Red cherry and blackberry add further fruit detail, and the colour is vibrant ruby. Tempranillo and Garnacha form the blend. The palate is medium-bodied, and the wine carries the Rioja designation with 13.5 percent alcohol. Suggested pairings include lamb and other red meat.
