AboutQuinta do Vesúvio

Quinta do Vesúvio took shape after António Bernardo Ferreira bought the remote Douro property in 1823 and began building its vineyards, terraces and winery. Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira continued the work and bottled a single-estate wine in 1868. The Symington family bought the property in 1989 and restored its vineyards.

The estate covers 326 hectares in the Douro Superior, with roughly 133 hectares of vines across slopes facing in different directions. Vintage Port is still made with foot-trodden grapes in the granite vats of the 1827 winery. Vesúvio also makes Douro red wines.
