Viña Puntí Ferrer is based at Santa Amalia in Rengo, in Chile’s Cachapoal Valley near the Andes. Its family history in Chile began when Jaime Puntí Desveus arrived from Manresa in 1953, gradually moving the business from grape-must production and trading into bottled wine. Gravel and clay make up the estate’s soils.
Winemaker Jorge Martínez oversees a range that includes Carménère, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, as well as white, rosé and sparkling wines. Alongside the varietal and reserve wines, the winery also experiments with clay vessels.

Deep red colour and violet reflections introduce black-fruit aromas, subtle pepper and spice. The palate has a soft entry, medium body and a balanced, expressive character. Fermentation begins with selected yeast and proceeds at controlled temperatures between 25 and 28 degrees Celsius, with traditional pump-overs for extraction. The wine is then aged in stainless steel and is suited to risotto, paella, mature cheese or lightly seasoned red meat.
