AboutProduttori del Barbaresco
Barbaresco’s cooperative story began in 1894, when Domizio Cavazza brought nine growers together in the Cantine Sociali di Barbaresco to bottle Nebbiolo under the village name. After that first cellar closed in the 1920s, parish priest Don Fiorino Marengo revived the idea in 1958 with nineteen farming families, creating the cooperative that exists today. More than fifty member families cultivate vineyards across the Barbaresco area.
The cellar accepts only its members’ Nebbiolo, using younger-vine fruit for Langhe Nebbiolo and reserving the main work for Barbaresco. In strong vintages, nine named vineyard areas are bottled separately as Riservas. Extended contact between the juice and grape skins, followed by ageing in large oak vessels, is central to the winemaking.
Produttori del Barbaresco 2024 Langhe Nebbiolo
Bright red in colour, the wine combines red raspberry and strawberry with rose petal, fresh herb, earthy iron and spice. Juicy red cherry sits alongside crunchy acidity and stern tannins, while crushed rock and lightly scorched earth add savoury detail. The finish is long. The fruit comes from younger vines whose quality could otherwise meet Barbaresco classification, and the wine carries 14.5 percent alcohol.
Produttori del Barbaresco Grappa di Barbaresco
Refined Nebbiolo aromas lead the nose, with lifted fruit, gentle florals and a clear sense of grape-skin freshness. The palate combines the power and structure associated with Barbaresco with a softer, more polished texture than traditional rustic grappa. Fresh pomace is distilled within hours under vacuum at a lower temperature, preserving aromatic detail while reducing harshness. The finish is firm, clean and persistent, with fruit, flowers and warming spice lingering. Serve neat after dinner at cool room temperature.
