AboutPierre Amadieu
In 1929, nineteen-year-old Pierre Amadieu began bottling wine from his family’s seven hectares in Gigondas under his own name. He acquired Romane and La Machotte in the 1950s; the estate now covers 137 hectares of vines, surrounded by about 200 hectares of scrubland and woodland. Family members continue to work in the vineyards and cellar, as well as in sales and hospitality, alongside a long-standing team.
Gigondas is at the heart of the estate, while fruit from partner growers supplies wines from other Rhône appellations. Grapes are harvested by hand, and wines from the different vineyard sites are made separately and aged in barrels or large casks.

French Red
Hand-picked Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah come from hillside vines rooted in light marl and pebbles above the Aygues. Fermentation lasts fourteen days in stainless steel vats and concrete tanks, with unballasting and pumping over. Ageing takes place entirely in tank. The red wine is full-flavoured and smooth, with balance and freshness, and its stated cellar potential is five years.
