AboutPhilipponnat

The Philipponnat family’s Champagne history reaches back to 1522, when Apvril Le Philipponnat was recorded as a vine owner between Ay and Dizy. Auguste and Pierre Philipponnat established the modern house in 1910 and acquired cellars at the Château de Mareuil. The house works about twenty hectares of Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards, alongside fruit from long-standing partner growers.

Clos des Goisses, its steep, south-facing walled vineyard at Mareuil-sur-Ay, covers 5.83 hectares. Pierre acquired the site in 1935 and made its wine separately. In the vineyards, the house uses mechanical cultivation instead of herbicides, along with cover crops, beehives and hedges intended to support soil life and biodiversity.
