AboutChâteau Peyrabon
Château Peyrabon’s documented history reaches back to 1766, when the wine property appeared on Pierre de Belleyme’s map of the area around Saint-Sauveur. The Renaissance-style manor gained four towers in 1821 and still stands amid the vineyards on a gravelly ridge a few kilometres from Pauillac. The Castéja heirs acquired the estate in September 2022.
The vineyard lies in Saint-Sauveur-en-Médoc within Haut-Médoc, where sandy gravel over clay and a smaller clay-limestone sector shape the estate’s parcels. Four varieties shape the estate’s vineyards and blends: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot have the leading roles; Cabernet Franc appears in smaller proportion, as does Petit Verdot. Ageing generally spans about fourteen months in French barrels, around one quarter of which are renewed annually.
Château Peyrabon 2019 Haut-Médoc
Medium- to deep-garnet, with cassis, blackberry and blueberry framed by cinnamon, clove, pepper and a graphite-like mineral note. The palate is medium-bodied and fresh, combining vibrant black fruit with measured tannins, bright acidity and a soft, polished texture. Savoury herbs and spice carry through the long, composed finish.
