AboutPelassa

Mario Pelassa and his wife Maria Teresa Viglione established their family winery in Roero in 1960. As a boy, Mario had cycled to Turin to sell young Nebbiolo, finding an encouraging first customer near Superga. Their sons Davide and Daniele took over in the 2000s: Davide works in the vineyards, while Daniele handles sales and communications.

Its wines include both Roero and Barolo. Its Roero vineyards occupy steep clay-and-sand hills at roughly 250 to 400 metres, on soils shaped by an ancient sea. The winery uses solar panels, water recovery, insulation and a ventilated roof.

Pelassa 2012 Barolo DOCG 1.5 L

Italian Red
$171.99

Garnet red opens with dried flowers, mineral notes and an earthy touch of tar. Rich and balanced, the palate carries mature tannins with a velvety texture and measured intensity. Dark cherry, tobacco and savoury spice develop through the middle, maintaining a classical, austere frame. The finish is persistent and composed, leaving mineral detail, dried rose and firm, polished tannin.
