AboutPecchenino
Pecchenino has remained a family enterprise in Dogliani, passing from Attilio to Marino and, by the late 1980s, to Orlando and Attilio. Its vineyards now extend across Dogliani, Monforte d’Alba and Bossolasco. Dolcetto, Nebbiolo, Barbera and varieties suited to higher elevations reflect the different settings found across those Langhe holdings.
San Luigi, from vineyards around the home winery, is fermented and aged in steel. The San Giuseppe and Le Coste di Monforte Barolos also ferment in steel, then mature in oak and cement.
Pecchenino 2016 Barolo Bussia
Italian Red
An intense garnet colour accompanies floral and red-fruit notes, liquorice, spice and tobacco. Ripe red fruit, taut compact tannins and vibrant vertical acidity characterize the profile. The fruit comes from the Bussia MGA, including the Corsini locality, on calcareous-clayey soil with brownish marl and southwest exposure. Fermentation takes place in steel, with maturation in oak casks and cement tanks.
Pecchenino 2019 Barolo Le Coste di Monforte
Italian Red
Structured and aromatic, with cherry and strawberry framed by violet, tobacco, white pepper, wild mint and licorice. The full-bodied palate combines concentrated red fruit with bracing acidity, mineral tension and dense yet polished tannins. A lingering blood-orange note brings energy to the finish. Decant before serving with braised beef, porcini or aged hard cheese.
Pecchenino 2019 Barolo San Giuseppe
Italian Red
Fresh raspberry, wild cherry and rose petal lead, with violet, truffle and a faint tarry note adding classic savoury depth. The palate is medium-to-full-bodied, structured by firm yet polished tannins and bright acidity. Tobacco and herbs emerge through the persistent finish; decant for braised beef, mushroom dishes, truffle pasta or aged hard cheeses.
