AboutNals Margreid

Nals Margreid is a South Tyrol cooperative of 138 wine-growing families tending approximately 160 hectares, from Nalles in the Adige Valley to Magrè farther south. It formed in 1985 through the union of the Nals winery, founded in 1932, and Margreid-Entiklar, founded in 1954.

The vineyards range from high, Alpine-influenced slopes above Nalles to warmer limestone and gravel sites around Magrè. At the winery, restored buildings from the Campi estate of 1764 stand beside a modern cellar that uses gravity to move the wine.

Melon and yellow-fleshed peach meet fresh sage in a taut, juicy and zesty profile. The grapes grow on a gentle south- and southeast-facing slope at 220 to 350 metres, rooted in chalky gravel soils with abundant humus. They are harvested by hand, fermented for about three weeks in stainless steel and aged on fine lees for another five months.
