AboutNakashima Sake Brewing

Nakashima Sake Brewing has worked in Mizunami, Gifu, since 1702, when founder Nakashima Kozaemon Mochinobu began turning locally collected rice into sake. The brewery introduced Kozaemon in 2000, initially focusing on junmai and aged sake.

It works with local growers for rice from Mizunami as well as sourcing varieties from other Japanese rice-growing regions. Brewing uses the area’s soft underground water. The Kozaemon range is built with food in mind, with different styles offering a choice of serving temperatures.

Kozaemon Junmai Yuzushu 720 mL

Japanese Liqueur
$52.99

Fresh yuzu rises immediately from a sake-based Japanese liqueur made entirely with fruit from Umaji Village in Kochi. The citrus aroma is vivid and direct, followed by refreshing yuzu flavour and a gentle sweetness. Produced by a Gifu brewery founded in the early eighteenth century, it keeps the fruit at the centre from the first aroma through the close, with the bright citrus character remaining clear and focused.
