AboutMoon Under Water Brewery
Moon Under Water was the Potter family’s brewpub on Bay Street in Victoria, with brewer and distiller Clay Potter working alongside Anne and Steve. The brewery drew on traditional German beer styles, producing unfiltered, naturally carbonated beers. Its range included pilsner, wheat beer, fruit sours, hop-forward ales and barrel-aged releases.
After the family sold the business in 2025, the site became Brass Monkey Brewing, with Clay Potter continuing as brewer and several established recipes retained.
Moon Under Water Brewpub Peaches & Cream Sour Peach Ale
Ripe peach leads with bright, juicy fruit, set against a clear sour line rather than simple sweetness. Vanilla and lactose soften the palate and bring a smooth, creamy texture to the finish without obscuring the peach. The result is vivid and dessert-like but still refreshing. Serve well chilled with spicy chicken, grilled pork, chèvre, peach salad or vanilla shortbread.
Moon Under Water Tranquility IPA
Citrus and piney hops lead the aroma, joined by floral tones, fresh bread and roasted barley. The copper-coloured palate is rich with toffee and caramel malt, while citrus bitterness and resin bring the finish back into focus. Despite its depth, the beer remains balanced and sessionable in shape. Serve lightly chilled with roast pork, burgers, aged cheddar, grilled sausages or mushroom dishes.
Moon Under Water Dark Cherry Sour with Coconut
Rich dark-cherry flavour gives this fruited sour a vivid core, balanced by refreshing tartness and a smooth almond-and-coconut finish. The fruit remains generous without becoming heavy, while the sour structure keeps each sip lively and composed. Coconut adds a rounded, subtly creamy edge through the close. Serve well chilled with roast duck, barbecue pork, aged cheddar, dark chocolate or a cherry-led dessert.
Moon Under Water Moon Juice Raspberry Sour 473 mL
Bright and lively, with ripe raspberry, red currant and a clean citrus tang. The palate is tart and fruit-forward, balancing jammy berry flavour with a light touch of sweetness and a refreshing sour finish. Serve cold alongside salty snacks, goat cheese, grilled sausages or a simple berry dessert.
