AboutMichael David Winery
Michael David Winery grows from the Phillips family’s agricultural roots in Lodi, which reach back to the 1860s. Brothers Michael and David Phillips, the family’s fifth generation of growers, opened the winery in 1984 beside their roadside fruit stand. A sixth generation is now involved in the family business.
The vineyards lie in Lodi’s warm growing climate, tempered by cooling Delta breezes. The winery participates in LODI RULES, the region’s independently audited sustainable winegrowing programme. Its Earthquake range takes its name from Zinfandel vines planted around the time of San Francisco’s 1906 earthquake.

Ripe red berries, cherry and darker fruit lead into cracked pepper and warm spice. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins shaping the fruit while toasted oak adds savoury depth. A lingering spiced finish keeps the wine lively and composed. The Lodi-grown Zinfandel is full enough for grilled meat yet balanced enough to serve with burgers, barbecue or firm aged cheese.
