AboutMerkin Vineyards

Merkin Vineyards is an Arizona wine project led by Maynard James and Jennifer Keenan with winemaker Tim White. The project draws on estate vineyards in the Verde Valley and around Willcox, with a focus on Arizona-grown fruit. In Cottonwood, a hilltop winery and trattoria are surrounded by four and a half acres of Graciano, Tempranillo and Garnacha.

Made from the white grape Malvasia Bianca, this skin-contact wine is deep gold in colour and comes from Buhl Memorial Vineyard in Yavapai County. The grapes ferment on their skins for ten days in stainless steel. Honeyed melon, honeysuckle, orange peel, citrus oil and lilac are present. The profile is layered, with some astringency on the finish.
