AboutMauro Veglio

Angelo Veglio began buying vineyards in the 1960s, starting with Gattera above La Morra. The family added five hectares at Cascina Nuova in 1979, and Mauro later shifted the focus from wine sold in large glass demijohns to estate Barolo. Joining forces with Mauro’s nephew Alessandro brought the holdings to about nineteen hectares across La Morra, Monforte, Barolo and Serralunga.

The vineyards are managed without herbicides or synthetic fertilizers, using permanent cover crops and pheromone-based pest control. Ageing uses previously filled French-oak barrels, with larger casks chosen for selected Barolo wines.

Mauro Veglio 2018 Barolo Paiagallo DOCG

Italian Red
$167.99

Sweet red fruit, wild rose and blood orange lead, with grilled herbs and subtle oak adding depth. The palate enters smoothly but quickly reveals a firm, linear structure, fine tannins and the freshness expected of a youthful Barolo. Long and poised, it will reward air and pairs especially well with braised beef, truffle dishes or aged hard cheeses.
