AboutMasahiro Shuzo
Masahiro Shuzo traces its origins to 1883, when Shobun Higa established the business in Shuri, Okinawa. The family rebuilt after the original distillery was destroyed in 1945, moved production to Itoman in 1991 and adopted the Masahiro Shuzo name in 2015. Masayasu Higa became president in 2022, representing the fifth generation of family stewardship.
Awamori, Okinawa’s rice spirit, remains central to the distillery’s work, alongside whisky, gin, vodka and liqueurs.
Masahiro Seara Japanese Craft Vodka
Delicate and clean, with a mellow rice aroma and a quiet natural sweetness. A blend of rice and wheat distillates gives the palate a smooth, lightly creamy texture, while fresh fruit and subtle floral notes add lift. Double distillation and birchwood filtration keep the profile polished and free of harsh bitterness. The finish is soft, gently sweet and composed. Serve well chilled, with soda and citrus, or in a Martini where the restrained grain and floral character can remain clear.
Masahiro Okinawa Craft Gin Recipe 01 700 mL
Fresh lemon zest, flowers and juniper open the nose, lifted by the bright, aromatic character of shekwasha citrus. The palate is vivid and layered, with guava leaf, goya and roselle bringing green, lightly tropical tones while Balinese long pepper adds a measured spicy edge. A rice-spirit foundation gives the gin a clean texture and gentle underlying sweetness. The finish is crisp and fragrant, returning to citrus, juniper and pepper. Serve in a Martini or with a restrained tonic.
