Mas Gabinèle
Mas Gabinèle
Mas Gabinèle is Thierry Rodriguez’s estate at Laurens, in the schist country of Faugères. A winegrower’s grandson, Rodriguez began in Languedoc wine export and established a merchant business in 1993 before acquiring his first vineyard parcels later that decade. The name comes from gabinelà, the Occitan word for a small hut in the vines.
The vineyards sit around 180 metres on sandstone-schist soils, amid Mediterranean scrub at the Cévennes foothills. Yields are kept deliberately low, and the estate gained High Environmental Value certification in 2016.
Mas Gabinèle 2015 Belandes Minervois
French Red
Medicinal herbs, liquorice and dark forest berries shape a savoury, distinctly southern French nose. The palate is juicy and well composed, with ripe balsamic tannins supporting Grenache and Syrah fruit rather than weighing it down. Dark berry depth, herbal freshness and a gently resinous note carry into a charming, persistent finish. Serve with lamb, cassoulet, grilled sausages or aged cheese.
Mas Gabinèle 2022 Faugères
French Red
Ripe blackberry, plum and red cherry are layered with liquorice, pepper, tobacco and warm Mediterranean herbs. The palate is generous yet balanced, with supple tannins and enough freshness to keep the dark fruit clearly defined. Spice and a light savoury note carry the finish. Serve with grilled lamb, sausages or slow-cooked vegetables.
Mas Gabinèle 2021 Carignan
French Red
Ruby-red and generously aromatic, with crushed strawberry and Ente plum joined by black pepper and liquorice. The palate has real depth and body without losing its sense of freshness, carrying the ripe red fruit and savoury spice through a long, fragrant finish. Bold enough for grilled foods, yet polished and easy to enjoy.
Mas Gabinèle 2020 Faugères
French Red
Wild berries, rockrose and rosemary open into a warm, stony mineral note. The palate is rounded and smooth, with dark fruit carried by a savoury blend of Syrah, Carignan, Mourvedre and Grenache. Schist-grown freshness keeps the generous texture composed, while herbal detail lingers through the finish. Decant briefly and serve with lamb, cassoulet or grilled sausages.
