Maculan’s story begins in a small tavern at Mirabella di Breganze, where Gaetano Maculan and his wife Antonietta made wine for the carters who passed through town. Their son Giovanni founded the winery in 1947, and Fausto returned after his winemaking studies in 1973. Fausto now shares management with his daughters Angela and Maria Vittoria.
The winery is in Breganze, a Veneto wine district of roughly 800 hectares. Maculan matches grape varieties to individual sites and combines modern cellar methods with traditional practices, including hanging some Vespaiola grapes to dry.

Italian Dessert
Deep gold opens with acacia honey, dried apricot, candied fig and orange peel. Saffron, toasted almond and a touch of salty toffee add depth. Full-bodied and silky, the palate is rich without becoming syrupy, as bright acidity keeps the fruit sharply defined. Zesty lime and papaya carry the long, clean finish.
