AboutLaurent Cazottes
In Villeneuve-sur-Vère, Laurent Cazottes carries forward a family distilling tradition on a small, diverse farm of vines, orchards and grain. He learnt from his father Jean and began making wine in the early 2010s. Joanna Dubrawska now leads the cellar.
The estate vineyards are cultivated organically, with biodynamic preparations and much of the work done by hand. Local wine grapes include Mauzac, Duras, Braucol and Prunelart. The wines ferment with native yeasts, with small sulphur additions and little use of new oak.

Wild berries and cherry meet a fresh, fine profile. Old-vine Jurançon Noir, also called Folle Noire, grows on limestone and clay. The grapes were harvested by hand, then macerated for twenty-four hours in concrete. Fermentation and élevage took place in concrete. Free-run and press juices were kept separate and blended before bottling, with very little sulphur dioxide added.
