AboutLaurence et Rémi Dufaitre

Laurence and Rémi Dufaitre met while working a harvest in Fleurie and built their domaine together near Saint-Étienne-des-Oullières. They began establishing the vineyard in the early 2000s, farming organically from the outset and selling fruit until their vines were ready for the wines they wanted to bottle. Their first commercial release arrived in 2010, after a patient period of rebuilding vineyard health.

Their approach draws on the ideas of Jules Chauvet and the Beaujolais growers who followed him. Long, cool fermentations use indigenous yeasts, and the wines move through the cellar by gravity. They are bottled without fining or filtration, with low or sometimes no sulphur additions.

Fresh acidity is also present, and the wine contains thirteen percent alcohol.

Dufaitre 2020 Brouilly

French Red

Bright cranberry and red cherry set a lively tone, joined by bruised strawberry, dried herbs, cedar and a subtle savoury note. The palate stays light on its feet, with fresh acidity and medium tannins carrying the red fruit into an earthy, characterful finish. Serve lightly cool with roast chicken, charcuterie, grilled pork or mushroom dishes.
