AboutOsuzuyama Distillery
Osuzuyama Distillery opened in 1998 as a branch of Kuroki Honten, set deep in the mountains of Miyazaki near the source waters of Mount Osuzu. Rice, barley, sweet potatoes and botanicals are sourced with an emphasis on Kyushu, including crops grown through the wider Kuroki farming programme.
Wooden tools and vessels are used in the fermentation rooms, where much of the work is done by hand. The distillery makes shochu, gin and whisky.

Japanese Gin
Bright yuzu and citrus peel lead the nose, followed by juniper, coriander and a subtle marine note. The palate is vivid and refreshing, with tangerine and kumquat fruit framed by ginger, mint and the peppery lift of sansho. Sakaki evergreen contributes a dry, woodsy undertone, while the sweet-potato shochu base gives the texture gentle breadth. The finish is clean, spicy and aromatic, with citrus and forest notes lingering. Try it with soda or tonic, or in a restrained martini.
