AboutKoppitsch

Maria and Alexander Koppitsch took over Alexander’s family vineyards near Lake Neusiedl in 2011, continuing a winemaking tradition the family traces back more than five centuries. They perform the vineyard work themselves, helped by their three sons and harvest volunteers, and farm according to biodynamic principles. Eighteen plots around Neusiedl am See are planted with eleven grape varieties.

Fermentation begins naturally, without additives or temperature control, and the wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. In 2019, the couple reorganized the range around soil types and vineyard sites rather than individual grape varieties.

Koppitsch 2024 Rosza

Austrian Rosé
$46.99

Wild berries, pink citrus and a salty note appear in this dry rosé. Rotburger, Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch, St. Laurent and Syrah are blended. Whole bunches are pressed in a screw press, and the juice goes into fibreglass and stainless-steel tanks without additives or temperature control. Natural fermentation takes place, and most components co-ferment and mature for six months on gross lees. The wine is neither fined nor filtered and contains under ten milligrams per litre of total sulphur dioxide.
