AboutKechris Winery
Kechris grew from retsina served at the family’s Kokoras restaurant in old Thessaloniki into a modern winery in nearby Kalochori. Four siblings established the original company, and oenologist Stelios Kechris later took charge of the family enterprise. The winery also helped found the association now known as Wine Producers of Northern Greece.
For its retsina, fresh pine resin is added at the start of fermentation and removed when fermentation is complete. Grapes are hand-picked into twenty-kilogram crates, then fermented under controlled temperatures in stainless steel or oak according to variety and intended style.
