AboutIl Roccolo di Monticelli

Il Roccolo di Monticelli took shape in 2015, when agronomy graduate Silvia Tezza returned to a family vineyard and began working it full-time with her uncle Maurizio. East of Verona, between the Soave and Valpolicella zones, the stone-walled vineyard sits on the limestone hills of the Mezzane valley. Vines planted in the 1960s share its dry-stone terraces with century-old olive trees.

Silvia farms without chemical fertilizers or herbicides, minimizes soil disturbance and uses low doses of copper, sulphur, herbal preparations and biodynamic treatments. Fruit trees, herbs, bees and farm animals also form part of the vineyard landscape. Cellar practices include spontaneous fermentation, skin contact and bottling without filtration, with sulphur added in small amounts or not at all.

Il Roccolo di Monticelli Cinciallegra Frizzante

Italian Sparkling
$51.99
Ripe pear and white flowers open with fresh citrus, almond and a lightly herbal note. Lively bubbles lift the palate, where bright acidity balances a gently cloudy, textural feel and subtle skin-contact grip. Dry and energetic, it closes with savoury yeast, citrus peel and a clean mineral edge.
