Holden Manz Wine Estate
Holden Manz Wine Estate
AboutHolden Manz Wine Estate
Holden Manz Wine Estate took shape in 2010, when Gerard Holden and Migo Manz acquired a Franschhoek property and began developing the estate under their own names. The farm occupies the southern corner of the Franschhoek Valley, where the Franschhoek River meets the Stony Brook beneath the mountains. Its 22 hectares sit around 300 metres above sea level, with roughly 16 hectares planted chiefly to red varieties and selected white grapes sourced from nearby districts.
Grapes are picked by hand, and small tanks keep individual parcels separate during fermentation. Solar panels help power the estate.
Holden Manz 2020 Reserve Chenin Blanc
South African White
Golden-yellow colour leads to kumquat, honeysuckle, quince and citrus blossom. The palate is rounded and medium to full in body, with crisp acidity, yellow fruit, fresh ginger and pineapple through a long finish. Chenin Blanc comes from Simonsberg/Paarl and Perdeberg. Wild-yeast fermentation uses barrels and tanks, with part of the wine spending twelve months in French oak and regular fine-lees stirring.
