Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1994 by Don and Jennifer Hartford. Based in Forestville, in the Green Valley of the Russian River Valley, it works with small vineyard sites that are often difficult to farm. It makes more than thirty single-vineyard wines from several California appellations.
The house uses Hartford Court on its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay bottlings; wines named simply Hartford are reserved for old-vine Zinfandel.

American Red
Red and black cherry open with pomegranate and dried rose petal. The palate layers dark berries, plum and licorice over an elegant, polished texture, with enough depth to feel complete without becoming heavy. Mocha and mineral notes linger on the finish. Refined but generous, it suits roast duck, salmon, mushrooms or herb-roasted chicken.
