AboutHartfield & Co.

Hartfield and Company brought legal bourbon production back to Bourbon County, Kentucky, in 2014, ending a gap of roughly ninety-five years. The distillery began as The Gentleman before adopting the name of Andrew Buchanan’s ancestors, Isaac and Leopold Hartfield, who had distilled in the county in the 1860s. Jeremy and Reid Hart joined the Paris, Kentucky, distillery in 2016.

Both its high-malt and wheated bourbons undergo single-pass distillation and mature in a mix of five- and thirty-gallon barrels. The high-malt recipe combines corn, rye and malted barley; the wheated version uses corn and malted wheat. The high-malt bourbon is made in two or three batches a year.
