AboutGunderloch
Banker Carl Gunderloch established the estate in Nackenheim in 1890 with the purchase of vines in Rothenberg. The family’s work here spans six generations, with Johannes Hasselbach continuing it today. On the Roter Hang, the vineyards face the Rhine and have iron-rich red shale and clay soils.
Riesling is the main grape, with smaller plantings of Pinot varieties, Silvaner and other grapes. The cellar work combines slow natural fermentations in stainless steel or oak with ageing on the full lees.
Gunderloch 2024 Fritz’s Riesling
German White
Stone fruit and lime are joined by fresh natural acidity and a light dusting of spice. The wine is dry, fresh and aromatically lifted. Riesling grows on the Roter Hang, where red slate, proximity to the Rhine, southeast-facing steep slopes and sun exposure support ripening. The bottling comes from Rheinhessen and is classified as sustainably farmed.
