AboutGrolsch
Grolsch began on 11 May 1615, when Willem Neerfeldt bought a property in Grol, now Groenlo, and opened a brewery. Brewer Peter Kuijper later used two hop varieties in his beer. In 1897, Theo de Groen introduced the half-litre swing-top bottle.
After a fireworks-factory explosion damaged the Enschede brewery in 2000, Grolsch built a modern facility between Enschede and Boekelo while maintaining access to its historic water source through a seven-kilometre pipe.
