AboutGordon & MacPhail

Gordon & MacPhail began in Elgin in 1895 as a grocery business founded by James Gordon and John Alexander MacPhail. John Urquhart and his family developed it into a specialist in maturing and bottling single malt whisky. Over four generations, the company selected casks for spirit from Scottish distilleries, building stocks for long ageing.

In 1968 it launched Connoisseurs Choice to bring single malts to a wider international audience. The family company also owns Benromach and The Cairn distilleries. It stopped filling newly sourced spirit from other distilleries into its own casks in 2024, while retaining its existing maturing stocks.

Sherry, milk chocolate and vanilla open the nose, followed by orange peel, cinnamon and sweet dates. The palate is smooth and generous, with stewed apple, nougat and roasted almond layered over treacle toffee and a light touch of white pepper. Refill sherry hogsheads add depth while allowing the fruit and malt to remain clear. The finish is sweet and persistent, carrying dried banana, warming spice and toasted oak. Serve neat or add a small amount of water.

Gordon & MacPhail Glenburgie 21 Year Old Distillery Labels

Scottish Whisky
$299.99
Rich stewed fruit and roasted hazelnut open the aroma, with brown sugar adding depth. Cooked apple and cinnamon follow across the palate, joined by brighter red-berry notes that keep the mature sweetness in balance. The texture is composed and generous rather than heavy. A lingering charred-oak finish brings dryness and structure to this Speyside single malt. Serve neat or with a small splash of water.

Gordon & MacPhail Mortlach 25 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700 mL

$454.99
Subtle and elegant, opening with orange marmalade, quince and liquorice over caramel, candle wax and a faint floral lift. The palate is oily and flavourful, adding vanilla, pineapple and lemon zest to the mature malt. Crushed almond and light mineral notes bring definition through the centre. The finish is composed and persistent, with citrus, wax, gentle spice and seasoned oak lingering evenly.

Braes of Glenlivet 1975 31 Year Old Connoisseurs Choice

Scottish Whisky
$2,999.99
Elegant and quietly mature, with creamy malt, buttery wafer, vanilla and citrus framed by delicate wood and fine spice. The palate remains light on its feet, balancing caramel malt with cinnamon, floral notes and a gently tonic, tart-oak edge.
